Zenora Lorraine Gard

Zenora Lorraine Gard, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2025, at her home in Newton. She was born November 1, 1928 to Albert and Irma (Richert) Duerksen of Hillsboro, Kansas. She married Alvin E. Gard of Canton on August 5, 1949 at Alexanderwohl Church. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Lori (Ken) Hein of Newton and Leda (Melvin) Graybill of Goessel; and a son, Mark, of Coffeyville, Kansas. Other survivors include 2 granddaughters, Adrienne (David) Close and Anitra (Damon) Johnston, both of Newton, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Ben Close, Nathan Close, Alexandra Murray, Justice Murray, Dustin Johnston and Hannah Johnston; 2 brothers, Dennis (Norma) Duerksen and Donley (Carol) Duerksen, both of Goessel.

She was preceded in death by 2 sister, Clareen Klassen and Joyce Unruh.

The Homegoing Celebration will be held at First Baptist Church, 200 W. Sixth St. Newton, KS 67114, March 23, 2025 at 2:00 pm. A private family burial was previously held on March 14, 2025 at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas.
