Tony McCurdy, Sr.

Tony P. McCurdy, Sr, 75, of Newton, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022. Tony was born July 17, 1947 in Wichita to Roy Leonal and Margaret Viola (Winters) McCurdy. He was raised in the Halstead area and Tony attended Newton High School.

Tony married Doris Lucielle “Lucy” Haney in August 1966 in Kingman, KS. Lucy passed away August 9, 2013. Together Tony and Lucy had 2 children: Tony Jr and Sheila. He later married Vicki Lindsey July 19, 2014. Tony and Vicki attended First Church of God in Newton.

Tony was a roofing foreman for over 50 years and was co-owner of McCurdy Construction. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family and fishing. Tony was an avid gardener, he enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with his neighbors. He played cards and pool. Tony enjoyed working on cars, NASCAR and going to races at 81 Speedway with his wife Vicki. He enjoyed eating at Connies Mexico Cafe. Tony never missed coffee with friends at CJ’s Pancake House.

Survivors include his wife Vicki of the home, son Tony McCurdy Jr and wife Renee of Newton and daughter Sheila Berndt and significant other Paul Tull of El Dorado. Grandchildren Jerry McCurdy, Kristen Coffman and husband Brady, Brandon Herbel and Lauren Linscott and husband Tyler. Great Grandchildren McKinley, Emersyn, Macie, Axel, Avery and Skyler. Brother Vern McCurdy and wife Carin.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucy, brothers George, Carl; half-brother Sam Archer and half-sisters Anna Bell Morris and Ruby Couch.

Viewing 1-8 pm, immediate family will be greeting guests from 6-8 pm Wednesday October 19 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.

Graveside service will be at 11:30 am Thursday October 20 at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. Followed by lunch at First Church of God-Family Life Center.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, Ks.
