Stan Briar, 64, died at his home on July 3,2014.
He was born on July 2, 1950, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Norman N. and Maurine (Dreier) Briar.
On October 5, 2002 Stan married Switlana Korobka at the Highland Trinity United Church of Christ.
Stan was a 1968 graduate from Newton High School. He then went on the United States Navy, serving two terms during the Vietnam Era.
During his time after the service, Stan worked at Agco, for many years as a material handling clerk, before entering into retirement.
Stan was a member of the V.F. W., American Legion and the Eagles Lodge, all of Newton. He served as a Commander of the V.F.W. as well.
He had a love for fishing, hunting and just spending time with his friends and family.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Sondra Berry.
Survivors include, his loving wife Switlana of the home, two sons, Jason (Darci) Briar of Sterling, KS and Patrick Briar, Lake Panasoffkee, FL.; one brother, Vic Briar (Carman), Canon City, CO; five grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 1:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at the Highland Trinity United Church of Christ in rural Newton, Kansas.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Highland Trinity United Church of Christ or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of the funeral home at 120 E Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
