Sharon Marie Stucky

September 13, 1936 — July 11, 2025

Newton

Sharon Marie (Wiebe) Stucky was born on September 13, 1936, to Walter and Stella (Enns) Wiebe, in American Falls, Idaho. She passed away on July 11, 2025, at Kidron Bethel Village, in North Newton, Kansas, at the age of 88.

Sharon grew up in Aberdeen, Idaho where she was a member of the First Mennonite Church. After graduating from Aberdeen High School, she attended and graduated from Bethel College in North Newton. While at Bethel, she went on a blind date with Wayne Stucky, from Moundridge, Kansas. At the end of this date, she told her roommate that she was going to marry Wayne one day. As predicted, they were married in Aberdeen on August 3, 1958.

Sharon and Wayne made their first home as a married couple in North Newton. Sharon taught school for several years before they moved back to Idaho where she continued her career teaching in the Aberdeen School District for over thirty years.

After her retirement Sharon and Wayne moved back to North Newton where they built a home and enjoyed reuniting with family and college friends who also lived in the area. During this period of her retirement, she was also blessed with two granddaughters, the first of whom came into the family on her birthday. She considered this the best birthday gift ever.

Sharon enjoyed reading, walking the many paths near her home in North Newton, coffee and dinners with friends, and doting on her granddaughters who adored her and loved spending time with her.

Her survivors include her husband, Wayne Stucky of North Newton; daughter, Melanie Stucky (Nathan Hart) of Oklahoma City; son, John Stucky (Rick Shenkman) of Seattle, Washington; and granddaughters Lily Hart and Sydney Hart of Oklahoma City. She will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation for all the love and kindness shown to Sharon during the time of her illness, and especially to the many who cared for her at Kidron Bethel Village.

A memorial Service will be held in Kidron Hall on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm, with light refreshments and conversation following.

Memorial gifts may be made to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or Bethel College.
