Sandy Salsbury

February 12, 1938 — June 17, 2018

Sandra Lea Salsbury, 80, died Sunday (June 17, 2018) at her rural Hillsboro home surrounded by family.

She was born on February 12, 1938 in Lawrence, Kansas the daughter of Jess Albert and Doris Irene Farmer Cole. Sandy was raised in the Lawrence and Park City areas.

She enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. Sandy married Marvin Wayne Phillips, Sr. on September 2, 1956. They would buy “fixer upper” homes with the last house she remodeled being her current home.

Sandy would later married Darrell Lee “Doc” Salsbury on August 10, 2005 in Ottawa, Kansas.

She loved to feed the wild raccoons that would come to the house.

Survivors include her husband “Doc” of the home; son Marvin (Debra) Phillips, Jr. of Walton, Ks.; daughter Tamara (Roger) Perkins of Newton; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two cats George and Snicklefritz.

Sandy is preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Norman Cole.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday (June 23, 2018) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00.

A memorial has been established with Caring Hands Humane Society, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
