Sandra Rae Reams

Sandra “Sandy” Rae Reams, 82, of Newton, Kansas passed away on May 15, 2025. Sandy was born on April 30, 1943, to Selma and Kenneth (Mikkelson) Kjosa of Gunder, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church in Elgin, Iowa.

Sandy married Marvin K. Holck in 1963 and they moved to Kanawha, Iowa where they began farming and had two daughters, Beth Holck (Thomas Rosa) and Brenda (Larry) Spurgeon. They moved to Kansas in 1986 and eventually divorced.

Sandy worked as an administrative assistant for many years and retired from the Office of the County Executive for Harvey County. In 1995 she married Arthur “Ray” Reams who preceded her in death following a brief illness in 2001.

Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family, hunting for antiques, and listening to her favorite country music songs. An exceptionally compassionate person, Sandy made friends easily and was especially known for her kindness toward others and her love of animals.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Selma and Kenneth; her husband, Ray Reams; and her brother Theodore “Ted” Kjosa. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Holck of Virginia, and Brenda Spurgeon of Wichita; her sister-in-law, Louise Kjosa of Minnesota; and her granddaughter, Kaley Spurgeon of Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews.
