Ramiro Juan “Ronnie” Montano, 67, died Tuesday (January 20, 2015) at his home.

He was born on August 29, 1947 in Newton, the son Armando and Martina Estrada Montano. Ronnie was raised and attended schools in Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1966.

Ronnie married Terry S. Bocock on December 31, 1981 in Newton. He had worked at Norcraft for several years until becoming ill in 1999.

Ronnie always like to clown around, he enjoyed making people laugh. Even during his illness, he never lost his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife Terry of the home; daughter Tanya Buentello and her husband Adrian of Newton; his parents A.C. and Martina Montano of Newton; brothers Louie Montano and his wife Gloria of Wichita, Gregory Montano and wife Sherry of Newton, John Fabian Montano and wife Cindy of Raytown, Mo.; and two grandchildren Noelle and Declan Buentello.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his brother Edmund Montano; sister Amelia Baker; and step-son Philip Scott Poteet.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday (January 24, 2015) followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.

Private family inurnment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

A memorial has been established with the National Kidney Foundation, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.

There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
