In Loving Memory of Riquardo “Ricky” Castillo October 16, 1963 – June 10, 2025
We celebrate the life of Ricky Castillo—beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Though our hearts ache, we are forever grateful for the light he brought to our lives.
Born in Plainview, Texas, Ricky made his home in Newton, Kansas, where he spent many dedicated years working for Wray Roofing and Flory Roofing, and was also a Fourth Degree Knight in The Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Gudalupe. Known for his tireless work ethic he made his living with his hands, but it was the strength of his heart that truly defined him—he became a father figure to many and a source of unwavering support in his community. Whether it was hanging Christmas lights at church for midnight mass or pulling over on the highway for a stranded vehicle, if someone needed help, Ricky was there.
He loved deeply, especially his daughters and grandchildren, who were the lights of his life. Even in his final days, while enduring his own pain, Ricky reminded those around him of his steadfast faith, often saying, “Jesus suffered more.” With peace in his heart, he looked forward to eternal rest in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
His life was a quiet testament to generosity, resilience, and compassion.
He will be dearly missed, but the kindness he showed lives on in every life he touched.
Ricky is proceeded in death by his mother, Lupe Conway and father, Carlos Castillo; sister Esther Valenzuela; brothers, Carlos Castillo and Adam Castillo; son-in-law, Nicholas McGovern.
Left to honor his memory are his daughters, Burgundy Castillo, Vanessa Castillo, and Racquel Holladay; grandchildren, Tatiana Lujano, Ashton Huntley, Armani McGovern, Emma Huntley, Jaxon Hanes, and Zander Hanes; sisters, Norma Rodriguez, Rosemary Castillo, Sylvia Castillo, and Violet Conway; companion Kristen Turner, and all those whose lives he touched with faith and love.
The family would like to thank The Knights of Columbus, the ladies of the Alter Society, Cheryl, from Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Wray Roofing and employees, and to those who gave with open hearts—your love, prayers, and generous support have wrapped us in comfort. We are forever touched by your compassion.
Memorials in memory of Ricky may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home to help with the cost of funeral expenses.
