Richard Edward Fischer

Richard Fischer passed on August 2nd, 2026. He fought hard to recover from complications following heart surgery, The family is thankful to the staff at St. Francis hospital in Wichita for the care they provided him.

Richard was born November 23, 1954 to Donald and Phylis Fishcer. He was raised in Valley Center along with his brother Bill and sister Barbara. Richard met the love of his life Amanda Corona while they were both welders in Hesston. They were married in November of 1974. Richard and Amanda had 4 children. Alicia (Gonzalo) Berumen, Maria Fishcer (Carlos Mendoza), Christopher (Alisha) Fischer, Amanda (Abelino) Hernandez.

Richard worked for Boeing and Spirit until he retired and was able to spend his remaining years with his 13 grandchildren. Mercedes and Makenzie Berumen, Ethan, Kieven and Annie Fischer, Xena (Ray) Larsen, Emilee and Charlie Fischer Stubbs, Eduardo, Lilyana (Jeremiah) Sult, Alejandro, Angel and Gabriel Hernandez. 3 great-grandchildren; Jaime, Tiva and Luna Larsen. He always made time for them and loved them with all his heart.

Richard always dreamed big and would do anything for his family. He loved being outside and never shied away from hard work. If his children or grandchildren needed help, he would be right there ready to go. From teaching his daughter to pull her food truck, to helping his youngest daughter build a chicken coop to getting an RV so he could take the whole family to see his only son retire from the Air Force. Richard was so very proud of him. He absolutely loved grilling, and he could feed an army.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson Jessie Wayne Fischer Stubbs. You will be forever missed. We know you loved us and we will never stop loving you.

Private family viewing will be from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Rosary will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 with the service following at 2:30 p.m. at the Lee Cannon Memorial Chapel at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Kansas 67114.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and can be left with the funeral home.
