Richard Lynn Cook, 71, died Saturday (January 8, 2022) in Wichita with his daughter by his side with whom he had been living with for the past year.
Rick was born on July 5, 1950 in Beaver, Oklahoma, the son of Overend Otis and Jessie Beck Cook. He was raised in the Liberal, Kansas area, graduating from Liberal High School. After which, he served four years in the U.S. Army. For several years, Rick worked in the oil fields.
He married Linda Carol Rhoades on June 13, 1981 in Liberal. They lived in Liberal where he was a Boy Scout Leader. The Cook’s moved from Liberal to Carthage, Texas in 2003. Linda died on December 22, 2009. Rick continued to live in Carthage until moving to Wichita in January, 2020.
Rick loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, cooking and listening to Classic Country Music.
Survivors include his daughter Jessica Robinson of the home in Wichita; sons Cameron Strange of Houston, Texas, Michael Lewis of Tucson, Arizona, and Matthew Lewis of Wichita; sisters Jody Thomas and Nancy Cypret both of Liberal and Susan Hudson of Dumas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sons Justin Lynn Cook, Troy Strange, and Mark Lewis.
Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be held later with inurnment in the Restland Memorial Park near Carthage, Texas, beside his wife Linda and son Justin.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the funeral home to assist the family with their final expenses.
