Ray Roberson

P. Raymond “RAY” Roberson, 95, of Newton, died Friday (Jan. 4, 2013) at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born on September 13, 1917 in St. Augustine, Texas, the son of Paul Bryant and Onnie Bell Brown Roberson.

Ray married Maxine Mable Trickel. They owned and operated the Roxy Theater and West Vue Drive-In Theater in Newton for many years. Maxine died January 30, 2004.

Ray was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, he had been a member of the Newton Elks Lodge. As an avid golfer, Ray hit a hole in one at the Newton Country Club.

On August 26, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church, Ray married Edith C. Ross Miller.

Survivors include his wife Edith of the home; step-son Robert Anderson and wife Sharon of Ft. Worth, Tx.; step-daughters Nancy Green and husband Gary of Newton and Dottie Coone and husband Joe of Sylva, N.C.; sister Margie Bernhardt of Newton; nephew David Strohm and niece Judy Baker.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, two brother Floyd and Earl; and a sister, Irene.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2013) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 1pm til 8pm, where the family with receive friends between 5 and 7.

A memorial has been established with the American Diabetes Association, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
