Mary Phyllis Steinkirchner, 87, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday (February 18, 2014) at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.
Phyllis was born on February 27, 1926 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard John and Della Elberson Steinkirchner, Sr. She attended local schools and was a piano teacher for many years.
Phyllis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She had lived the most of her life in Newton until moving to nursing facilities in Wichita within the past year.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant brother, Bernard John Steinkirchner, Jr.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30 P.M., Sunday (March 9, 2014) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton. Private family inurnment will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
