Paul Androes

PAUL P. ANDROES, 86, of Newton died Saturday (Nov. 26, 2011) at his home.

He was born on July 15, 1925 in Nowata, Okla., the son of Peter and Marie Pauls Androes. He was raised in the Elbing, Kansas area. Shortly after graduating from Whitewater High School, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Radford.

Paul married Vernelle Ruby Zuercher on February 22, 1947 at the Federated Church in Whitewater. They later moved to Newton.

For many years, Paul owned and operated the A & D Propane in Peabody. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed attending reunions with fellow Sailors.

Survivors include his siblings, Betty Harmony of Hutchinson, Ks., Dorothy Foust of Houston, Tx., Willard Androes of Rogers, Ark., Melba Langenegger of Wichita, and Mary Lou Schmidt of Newton.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Margaret Koehn Androes; wife Vernelle on Nov. 6, 2010; and brother Leslie E. Androes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday (Dec. 2, 2011) at the First Christian Church in Newton. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home 1pm til 9pm on Thursday where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8.

A memorial has been established with the Kanas Christian Home and Kansas Bible Camp of Hutchinson, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
