Nicholas Wade Garcia, 33, of Newton, Kansas, passed away on November 16, 2025. Born and raised in Newton, Nick carried the strength and heart of his hometown with him everywhere he went—loyal, grounded, and deeply devoted to the people around him.
Nick’s greatest joy in life was being a father. His children, Vida (11), Harper (11), Aiven (8), and Ariella (2), were the center of his world. He dedicated himself fully to them, loving them fiercely and unconditionally. He was, without question, the kind of father every child deserves—present, patient, playful, and endlessly supportive. No one could have done a better job.
He is survived by his fiancé, Destinee Herriage, and the parents who raised him, Linda and Richard Martinez of Newton. Father, Daniel Garcia and wife Stacie. Nick is also survived by his siblings Ashley Babson and her husband Blake; Tyler Chappell and his wife Crystal; Nicholas “Big Nick” Martinez and fiancé, Victoria Raigosa; Chris Garcia and his wife Allie; and his sisters Erica Garcia and Amy Carrion with her husband Reuben. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who loved him dearly.
Nick worked as a structural steel erection foreman, erecting metal buildings across the Midwest. He led his crews with skill, integrity, and respect, and was a true leader on every jobsite.
A true old soul, Nick lived with an appreciation for the simple and meaningful parts of life. He enjoyed skateboarding, disc golf, and golfing, but more than any hobby, he valued the moments shared with family and friends. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, cared for, and important. If you were lucky enough to know Nick, you knew that he would always show up for you—whether it meant giving you his time, his patience, or even the shirt off his back.
Nick never forgot the people he met along his path, and he made sure they felt loved. He lived every day to its fullest and encouraged others to do the same, reminding everyone around him what it truly meant to live a meaningful life.
