Milton James Gaeddert, 96, passed away on July 4, 2026, at Kansas Christian Home, Newton, KS. He was born February 6, 1930 in Hutchinson, KS to Rudolf and Selma Schmidt Gaeddert.

‘Jim’ graduated from Hutchinson schools. He was in the Navy for four years, graduated from Bethel College with a BS in teaching, 1957, and a Masters in Education from Emporia State in 1962. He and Janice Joy Royer were married in August, 1957. They had two children; Cynthia Lynn and Thomas James. He taught in several towns, and later had rental houses which he enjoyed repairing. Jim was a member of Grace Community Church. He sang in the choir at several churches, enjoyed gardening, camping and volunteering.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janice, children; Cynthia Groening (Joel), and Tom Gaeddert (Margo), and grandchildren; Isaac Groening (Jenny) and children Olivia, Cora and Elsa, David Groening (Rachel) and children Abigail, Titus and Ruthie, Katelin McEachern (Garrett) and children Carter and Colt, Kendall Gaeddert (Alicia) and child Lee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Alice Schroeder and Gladys Havens. 

A memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church, Newton, Friday, July 10, 2026 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to purchase solar audio players for Bibles in Philippine languages.
