Michael Steven Smith, 58, of Wichita, died February 10, 2012, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Michael was born February 15, 1953 to Thomas Harlan and Mary Ann
(Wilson) Smith in Newton KS. He attended the Newton schools and in 1971 joined the United States Marine Corps. Michael served 3 years of active duty and 3 years of inactive duty. Michael was an MP on a Naval Ship and traveled
to many different countries.

Michael is survived by his mother Mary Ann Biggerstaff, Step Father Donald Biggerstaff both of Newton, and siblings, Hal (Deb) Smith of Topeka, Marian Sanders of
California, Ann Mills of Laughlin, Nevada, Georgann Weeks of Wichita, Sherry (Terry) Mayhill of The Woodlands, TX, Jerri Stucky (Tony Gooden) of Antonito CO, Barbara (Jimmy) Meetz of El Dorado, Ricky (Shirley) Smith of Wichita, Donald (Helen) Smith of Newton, Brenda (Roe) Hicks of Wichita, Jana (Roger) Morrison of Newton, Tammy (Dennis) Wyse of Hesston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Harlan Smith, brother Fred Smith, maternal grandparents Art and Maxine Wilson, paternal grandparents Ruth
and Ernest Lindquist, and Fredrick Smith, all of Salina.

A memorial service will be held on Monday February 13, 2012 at 10:00am at the United Church of Christ, 210 East 4th, Newton Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army where Michael often was a Volunteer. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Kansas 67114.

There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
