Michael Larreau

Michael Clinton Angel Larreau, 74, died Monday (January 3, 2022) at the Harry Hospice Center of Accension Via Christi Medical Center- St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Mike was born on August 29, 1947 in Oberlin, Kansas. As a child he lived in Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska.

On June 23, 1968, he was united in marriage to Connie Fredrickson in Oberlin. They were blessed two children, Michelle and Todd.

Mike enlisted into the U.S. Navy in October, 1965. He was stationed in Quonset Point, Rhode Island where he became a “Parachute Rigger.” During his time there, he made several cruises on aircraft carriers.

After being discharged from the Navy, he worked at the Oberlin Trailer Factory building campers and mobile homes. Mike also worked at Red Dale Campers in Longmont, Colorado.

He returned to military service in February, 1974, and was stationed at Mayport, Florida on the aircraft carrier, F.D. Roosevelt. It was during this time that he was involved in an explosion while servicing a liquid oxygen seat pan. He was then stationed in Panama City Beach, Florida, moving to Wichita in 1982.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Angel, Kenneth and Betty Larreau; and sister Cheryl Larreau Messinger.

He is survived by his wife Connie; daughter Michelle Reeves and her husband James; son Todd Larreau; two grandchildren Khymber and Khristian Reeves all of Wichita; and brother Jack Larreau of Maywood, Neb.

Mike loved to skydive and scuba dive along with going camping and his Bassett Hounds.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at the Oberlin Cemetery in Oberlin, Kansas, at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 17, 2022.
