Manuel Romero

Manuel Mark Romero, 63, of Newton, passed away on May 19, 2026. Manuel was born on March 8, 1963, in Omaha to Theodore Romero and Rebecca Ayala. 

He was previously married to Cecelia Garcia. Manuel was a proud Husker football fan and had a deep love for softball. Some of his favorite pastimes included spending time at the casino, cheering on his teams, and being around family and friends. He was a very social man who never met a stranger and always enjoyed good conversation and laughter. 

He is survived by his daughters, Tanee (Marcus) Coleman and Stephanie (David) Ellis; brothers Teddy, Ronnie, and Alonzo; sisters Linda, Mary, Rosemary, and Juanita; nine grandchildren Joseph, Destiny, Adriana, Natalia, Mia, Faith, Hope, Malachi, and Sophia; and seven great-grandchildren Michael, Imani, Luca, Isabella, Gianna, Manuella, and Rudy Jr. 

Viewing will be held May 23, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Broadway Colonial. 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Newton Mexican American Athletics Club, a place where Manuel’s heart truly belonged on the field.
