Leanne Schafer

Esta Leanne Schafer, 65, of Wichita, died Friday (March 14, 2014) at the Sunflower Meadows Care Home in Wichita.

 She was born on October 3, 1948 in Newton, Ks., the daughter of Floyd Leroy and Sarah Cenith Killion Hazlett. Leanne graduated from West Side High School in Omaha, Nebraska and later received her Bachelors Degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

 Leanne had lived in Lincoln until moving to California. She was active in the Presbyterian Church she attended in Sacramento. Leanne enjoyed volunteering at the library and schools, she was also an avid reader. She returned to Kansas in 2001.

 Survivors include her son Karl Andrew Schafer and his wife Kimberly of Visalia, Calif.; daughter Dana Lynne Forti and husband Mark of Claremont, Calif.; her mother Sarah Hazlett of Wichita; sister Janet Sue Wunderlich of Omaha; and five grandchildren.

 Leanne is preceded in death by her father.

 Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday (March 18, 2014) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Ks.

 The casket will remain closed.

 A memorial has been established with the Alzheimer’s Association, contributions may be sent to the funeral home.
