Lawrence VanBuren

December 3, 1942 — February 20, 2012

Lawrence “Daffy” VanBuren, 69, of Newton, died Monday (Feb. 20, 2012) at the Salem Home in Hillsboro, Ks.

He was born on December 3, 1942, in Florence, Ks., the son of Robert and Stella Piper VanBuren. He was raised in the Florence, Ks., and Barnsdall, Okla., areas. Larry had lived in Walton for five years and many years in Newton.

Larry had done factory work for several years, working at American Coach/DMH and later Gerdens. He had also working in housekeeping at Newell’s Truck Stop.

He was an avid bowler, loved fishing, and enjoyed collecting thousands of record albums and movies.

Survivors include three brothers Richard of Peabody, Ks., Ronnie of El Dorado, Ks., and Harold of Wichita; four sisters Genevieve Wacker of Wichita, Aldonna Mickle of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Winifred Jones of Okemah, Okla., and Bonnie Romack of Edmond, Okla.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; brother Edward; and sister Geneva.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday (Feb. 24, 2012) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence,

Friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday 9am til 8pm.
