Karen L. Dreier

Karen L. Dreier, 62, of Hesston, died Saturday (November 22, 2014) at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

She was born on June 21, 1952 in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of George T. and Donzella Moore Meires. Karen was raised in Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1970.

She married Robert E. Dreier on January 3, 1972 in Newton.

Karen received her nursing degree from Hesston College. She was a Registered Nurse for St. Francis Community Services for eight years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gymnastics, along with attending her grandkids activities. For several years, Karen had participated with the Relay for Life and area 4-H clubs.

Survivors include her husband Bob of the home; daughter Darci (Glen) Weller of Sacramento, CA., and their daughter Jena; daughter Andrea (Wes) Hamm of Walton, KS., and their children Haley and Drake; son Ben (Lisa) Dreier of Sedgwick, KS., and their children Taylor, Cody, Becka, Kayla and Jake; great granddaughter Emma; mother Donzella Meires of Newton; sister Kem (John) Nicodemus of Newton; sister Janet Meires of Fernandina Beach, FL.; brother Patrick (Andrea) Meires of Fernandina Beach, FL; countless nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Karen is preceded in death by her father, George and an infant sister Linda Dianne Meires.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday evening between 6 and 8pm.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday (November 28, 2014) at the Highland Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Newton.

A memorial has been established with the Highland Church Cemetery fund, Victory in the Valley, and the Harvey County 4-H. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS. 67114.
