Judith M. Calbert, 87, of Newton, Kansas, passed away on March 21, 2026. Born in 1938 to Harold and Ila Nell Adamson, she grew up in Newton. Judy married Ronald E. Calbert on October 19, 1957, at the First Christian Church in Newton. Together, they built a family, raising two sons and creating a lifetime of cherished memories.
Judy was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an Elder. She was also an active participant in the Newton Masonic Order of Eastern Star (OES) and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Judy is survived by her two sons, Eric Calbert (Ruth) of North Newton, and Darin Calbert (Lisa) of Newton, along with her beloved grandchildren: Tara (Tim) McCreedy, Abby (Jerrod) Guthrie, Taylor (Michael) Dietz, Jared (Alyssa) Calbert, and Nick Calbert (Maria Campa-Mares), as well as seven adored great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Carol “Joan” Guerra. Judy is also survived by her siblings: Dorothy Adamson Dow (Steve, deceased), David Adamson (Linda), and Pamela Adamson Bartley (Kenneth), along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 30th, at 2:00 PM, with family greeting friends at 1:00 PM, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy or the First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund, sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
