Jerry Lynn Bertram,74 of Pratt, Ks.,died March 6, 2017 at the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, due to medical complications.
Jerry was born October 13, 1942 in Oakland, CA to Carl and Velma (Smitherman) Betram. He spent his life behind a microphone, starting out at KEDD Radio in Dodge City. Jerry then moved on to Wichita to further his career in both radio and television broadcasting before coming home to Pratt and joining the family auction and real-estate business.
On December 29, 1959, Jerry married Carol (Dittmeyer) and from that union two sons were born. On October 7, 1991, he married Tammy (Hughes) and they have three children. She survives.
Jerry is also survived by: three sons, John (Judy) Bertram and Dell (Hope) Bertram of Haviland, KS, Jake (Kristin) Bertram of Salina; two daughters Jamie Wyatt of Pratt and Blane (Skylar) Shepard of Galva; three brothers, Ted (Sherri) Bertram of Kansas City, MO, Roger (Sharon) Banbury of Overland Park, Ray (Sue) Banbury of Pratt; three sisters Rebecca Anderson and Melissa Esfeld of Great Bend, and Sarah (Craig) Richley of Summit, MO; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father Carl (Nancy) Bertram and his mother Velma (John) Banbury.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, March 13th at 10:30 A.M. at the Reach Church, 1000 E. 6th Street, Pratt, KS.
In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be sent to the Free Methodist Church, 1024 Maple Street, Pratt, KS 67124. This is where Jerry and his family attended for many years.
In the hearts of the family and friends his personal warmth, his keen sense of humor, and his loving concern for others will live on.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
