Jay W. McCulloch, 29, died on March 22, 2016 at Newton Medical Center in Newton, Kansas.

He was born on August 17, 1986 to Joan (Widener) and Russell McCulloch at the Axtell Hospital in Newton. Jay grew up in the Hesston and Newton communities and graduated from Hesston High School with the class of 2005.

Jay was employed as a CNC machine operator at Millennium Machine and Tool in Newton for nearly ten years. He was smart and artistic and was great with his hands. He would laugh and describe himself as a jack of all trades and a master of none. He had of love of the outdoors and nature. You could find him on any given day, sharing time with the Lord, with a fishing pole in hand. He loved to fish, hunt and shoot guns. Music and concerts were another favorite of Jays’.

His family and friends would describe him as a great man, with a very good heart and caring personality. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone out. His “babies”, Jada and Doc were the love of his life, in addition to his three godchildren, Kamren, Nathaniel and Peyton. They were his world, and he theirs. His love and presence will be greatly missed by so many.

Preceding Jay in death was his father on May 15, 2001.
Survivors include his mother, Joan (Widener) McCulloch, Newton; Paternal Grandparents, Adrian and Luberta McCulloch, Newton; maternal grandparents, Don and Sodie Widener, Afton, IA; Aunts , Uncles and cousins; Bill and Christine McCulloch, Walnut Creek, CA; Mark and Marcia Kroeker, Oakbank, Manitoba, Canada, and their children, Philip, Amy and Jessica; Lisa McCulloch and Chris Frazier, Newton and Meagan Waltner and her boys Caleb and Colton of Newton and Cruz Castillo, Newton; Patrick and Tonja McCulloch, Derby,KS and their three girls, Jenna, Abigail and Bella; Craig Widener, Indianapolis; Chad Widener, Indianpolis; Tim and Sara Widener and their three children Jack, Jake and Kay, Cromwell, IA; best friend, Jared and April Bohm, Wichita, and Jay’s Godchildren, Kamren, Nathaniel and Peyton.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30th, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS, from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. The family will be greeting from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, March 31st, at 11:00 A.M. at the Salem United Methodist Church, 1st and Old Main, in Newton.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later time. Cremation has taken place.

Memorials may be made to the Caring Hands Humane Society in care of the funeral home at 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
