Hector Mosqueda

Hector Ricardo Mosqueda, 60, died Monday (August 4, 2014) at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born on May 29, 1954 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Julio Antonio and Emelia Rincon Mosqueda. Hector attended Newton High School. He and his brothers operated a construction company for a few years. Hector was the maintenance supervisor for several years at the Newton Outlet Mall and had helped at the Salvation Army until retiring in 2009.

Hector married Lisa Marie Brundage on February 15, 1999 in El Dorado. He loved cooking, gardening, along with spending time with his family. Hector was an active voice for those in the community who felt their opinion wouldn’t be heard. He was a unique character, who was never a stranger to anyone he met.

Survivors include his wife Lisa of the home in Peabody; sons Hector R. Mosqueda, Jr., and Matthew Mosqueda of Newton; daughter Julia Mosqueda of Peabody; step children Michael Hedrick of Newton, Jessie Slater of Florence, and Tyler Slater of Peabody; brothers Armando “Pete” Mosqueda of Newton and Paul Mosqueda of Chula Vista, Calif.; sisters Susan Mosqueda and Olivia Goodall of Newton, Mary Pacheco of Peabody, Rosalinda Galle of Clearwater, Fla., Isidra Boroughs of San Diego, Calif., Rebecca Garza of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren Colton, Austin, Jade, Emeilia, Leilah, Peyton, Natalie, Dylan, and Rusty were the greatest joy in his life, “Papa” thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them.

Hector is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Michael B. Mosqueda and Julio “J.J.” Mosqueda; and sisters Oralia Mosqueda and Helen Corona.

It takes a lot more than being related to be family

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday (August 9, 2014) at the Christian Church in Peabody, Ks.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday Noon til 8pm where the family will receive friends between 5 and 7pm.

The Hector Mosqueda Fund has been established at the Bank of the West in Newton, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
