Harold W. Buckman

August 3, 1916 — February 27, 2008

Harold was born August 3, 1916 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Paul & Hazel (McDonald) Buckman. He married Loretta Burton, January 27, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas, she preceded him in death January 4,1999.

He was a railroad electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad before retiring. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving in the South Pacific and Guadalcanal. He was a lifetime member of t he V.F.W. # 971 and American Legion, Post # 2. Harold enjoyed going fishing as much as possible.

He survived by a daughters Julie Buckman, Kansas City, KS, Barbara Jill Wiemerslage, Newton; sister Betty Greenley of Gravios Mills, MO.; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Loretta and 2 brothers, Paul J. and Jack Buckman.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2:00 P.M. at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, with Reverend John Brungardt presiding.

Memorial funds can be made to the V.F.W. Post # 971.
