Gregory Lynn Kater, 52, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born on February 10, 1959 in Newton, Kansas to Donald C. Kater and Gloria M. (Lewis) Kater. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and friend.
Greg graduated from Newton High School in 1977 and Dodge City Community Colleg in 1979. He was a self-employed insurance agent.
Survivors include a son, Justin Lee Kater, El Dorado; daughter Maegan Rose Kater, Grandson, Cameron John Giles and Mother, Gloria Kater, all of Newton;granddaughter, Isabella Kater; 2 sisters, Martha Disberger (Dennis) of Morton, ILL. and LaDonna (Greg) Schmidt, Newton; nieces and nephews; special friend, Vanessa Hill and beloved friend, his cat, Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Kater.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting visitors from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, KS.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the First United Church of Christ, 210 E. 4th St., Newton , Kansas. Reverend Jerry Scribner will be presiding.
There will be a private family inurnment held.
Memorials may be made to the Caring Hands Humane Society, First United Church of Christ or The American Diabetes Association, all in care of the funeral home, at 120 E . Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
