Glenn Murphy

Glenn L. Murphy, 83, died Monday (December 21, 2020) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.

He was born on September 25, 1937 in Altoona, Kansas, the son of Anthony Peter and Pauline Hayes Murphy. The family moved to Wichita when Glenn was in grade school, he graduated from Wichita West High School.

He married Ruth Ann Smith on October 15, 1966 in Wichita. They moved to Newton in 1972.

Glenn went to work for Beech Aircraft in 1965 where he was a machinist, retiring in 2003.

He was a member of the Salvation Army. For many years he was a member of the Great Plains Dulcimer Alliance. He enjoyed attending and participating at the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival in Winfield for several years.

Survivors include his wife Ruth of the home; sons John Patrick Murphy of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Jay Murphy of Potwin, Ks. And Samuel Dale Murphy of Wichita; two grandsons Samuel Dale Murphy, Jr. and Michal Isaac Murphy.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles and sister Barbara Lynne

Memorial services will be held at the Salvation Army, 1910 S. Everett Street in Wichita on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the Salvation Army, contributions may be sent to Salvation Army, 1910 S. Everett Street, Wichita, Ks. 67213.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, Ks.
