Gene Redger

September 20, 1926 — February 2, 2013

Wilbur “Gene” Redger, 86, of Newton, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2013) at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Ks.

Gene was born September 20, 1926 in Hillsboro, Ks., the son of Adolph and Nora Jantz Redger. He was raised in the Tampa area. Gene married Jaraine Mae Decker on August 23, 1951 in Roxbury, Ks.

Gene and Jaraine farmed in the Tampa and Newton area for many years. He had also been a custom wheat farmer for several years.

Survivors include his wife Jaraine of the home; sons Randy and his wife Tina of Peabody, Perry and his wife Lesa, Rickey and wife Susan all of Newton; daughters Vickie Brockman and husband Mike, Tamie Larez and husband Tim, Treva Robbins and husband Steve all of Newton, Ramie Stanford and husband Terry of Burrton; brother Dean Redger of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter-in-law DeeAnn Redger of Newton; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents; son Lonnie; daughter Valora; brother Dennis; sister Maxine; granddaughters Jennifer Stanford and Jennifer Redger; and great granddaughter Gabriel McComb.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2013) at the Church of the Nazarene in Newton. Interment will be in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Durham, Ks.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 1pm til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8.

A memorial has been established with the American Heart Association, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
