Gail Hamm

November 16, 1918 — July 10, 2018

Gail A. (Williams Dumler) Hamm, 99, died Tuesday (July 10, 2018) at the Newton Medical Center.

She was born on November 16, 1918 in Barber County, Kansas, the daughter of Scott Elery and Pearl Sylvesta Gibson Levens. She was raised and attended schools in the Sawyer area.

After graduating from high school Gail moved to Newton to attend the Axtell Nurses School. She was a nurse in the Newton area for several years.

Gail was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Newton and had currently been attending the Christian Church in Sedgwick. She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #5 in Newton and the Wichita Gem and Mineral Society.

She married Melvin A. Williams on September 2, 1944 in Colby, Kansas. He died on March 3, 1973. On October 11, 1974 she married LeRoy C. Dumler in Newton. He died on October 11, 1988. Gail later married Carl Raymond Hamm, Sr. on October 6, 1990 in Sedgwick, Ks. He died on March 6, 2002.

Gail is survived by her daughter Rowena Sonmore of the home in Newton; step-sons Jon Dumler and wife Etta of Ireland, Don Dumler and wife Marsha of Orange Park, Florida, C. R. Hamm and wife Judy of Wichita, Myron Hamm and wife Terri of Gunnison, Colo.; 11 step-grandchildren; and her friend Beverly Hamm of Wichita.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Joy Schrock.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday (July 16, 2018) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon between 1:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M.

A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church of Newton and the Christian Church of Sedgwick, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
