Dorothy Jane (Tanner )Schmidt, 91, passed away on February 1, 2013 at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas.
Dorothy was born in Newton on March 15, 1921 to the late Jesse Edward and Lottie M. (Geabhart) Tanner.
On November 8, 1938 she married Ben Schmidt in El Dorado, KS. He preceded her in death on February 23, 1998.
Other family preceding Dorothy in death were sisters, Ethel, Juanita, Doris, Jessie, Virginia, Genevieve, Bonnie and Judy.
She is survived by her son, Leon and wife Carolyn; grandchildren, Shawn, Shelly and Brent; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Bernowich and Darleen Morris.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
The family will have a private burial.
