Donald Botterweck

Donald Botterweck, 95, died Friday (October 29, 2021) at Kidron Bethel in North Newton.

He was born on April 10, 1926 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Augusta Boehnke Botterweck. Don was raised and attended schools in Newton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17 years old.

Upon being discharged from the military in December, 1949, Don returned to Newton and went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1956, he went to work for the City of Newton as a custodian until retiring in 1988 after 32 years.

Don had been a life member of both the V.F.W. and American Legion. Through the years he enjoying helping with the Avenue of Flags on Memorial Day. He enjoyed watching Western movies.

Survivors include his two sisters Lucile Botterweck of North Newton and Clara Mulhall of Miami, Florida; along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Harold.

The casket will be open at the funeral home on Wednesday (November 3, 2021) between 1:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday (November 4, 2021) at the Restlawn Garden of Memory’s just outside of Newton on Hiway 50.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, Ks.
