Daniel Caleb Burkett, age 40, of Newton, Kansas, passed to his eternal home on May 2, 2024.  Daniel was born to David Burkett and Judi (Helfer) Burkett on November 10, 1983.  

Daniel came into this world as a miracle, a gift to all who knew him.   Born at 27 weeks, 2 pounds 12 ounces, his life brought a special light to the world.  As a child, Daniel was fun loving and mischievous. Daniel was a kind hearted, loving person who brought a smile to everyone who knew him.  He loved music of all genres and loved being outdoors and grilling.  Daniel was employed by Kropf Lumber and was passionate about ensuring his customers were satisfied.  

Daniel’s children were the joy of his life.  He treasured the notes and pictures they brought him.  He celebrated them in their accomplishments.  Daniel was passing along his love of music by teaching them the guitar and mandolin.  His love for them was infinite.

Daniel is survived by his children Lydia and Leo; father; sister Cheryl Brandewiede (Jim); brother Richard (Esperanza); brother Kevin (Theresa); and sister Sarah Hoss (Andrew).  He is also survived by numerous loving nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, uncle, aunts, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his mother.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on May 13, 2024, at Christ Tabernacle, 210 E 4th St, Newton, KS.  A viewing with the family present will be held from 12:00pm-2:00pm with the service immediately following.  Cremation to follow with a private interment.   A memorial trust fund has been established for Daniel’s children through Citizen’s State Bank.
