Cleveland Brown, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2026, at Paramount Community Living & Rehab.
He was born Clable Brown on February 1, 1950, to Alberta Brown in Cordell Georgia. His mother preceded him in death.
Not much is known about his childhood or the years prior to his arrival in Wichita and then Newton. He worked 14 years for Marriott Food Service at Bethel College and for several years at the City of North Newton.
Cleveland was a wonderful friend to many. He received services from New Horizons, Northview Developmental and ResCare. Even though he received services, he was a giver and always wanted to help “the kids” also receiving services. He took great pride in his work and keeping things clean and orderly. He enjoyed helping others like Christ did. He had a very strong faith and attended Newton Christian Church as he could walk across the street from his residential housing.
In September 2025, he chose to move to Paramount as he had a couple of friends there and was ready to let others take care of him in his golden years.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, May 19th, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and those paying their respects can go and go at their convenience.
Graveside services will be on Wednesday, May 20th, at 10:00AM at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Caring Hands Humane Society.
For Paramount residents and staff, a memorial service is planned during Wednesday bible study at 1:00 PM with a light reception to follow.
