Cheryl Jeanne Bergman

November 10, 1946 — October 26, 2023

Cheryl Jeanne (Lyne) Bergman returned to her Heavenly Father on October 26, 2023 after recent years of struggling with chronic illness.  She went quickly with her daughter by her side.

Cheryl was born on November 10, 1946 in Longford, Ks to Kenneth and June Lyne.  She was the youngest of 6 children.  She was raised and attended school in Abilene, Ks.  It was here that she met her husband of 47 years.  She was married in 1963 to Evan Bergman at the young age of 16.  They enjoyed a nomadic lifestyle, living in little towns on the plains of Kansas in their early married life.  Some may have not liked this way of life, but she thrived on it.  During this time, she made many friends talking on her CB radio.  Her handle was Ladybug while her husband went by Firefly.  During her marriage, she had 3 children, Cherie, Tamberli, and Cary.

Cheryl also had a very sentimental heart. Love notes from Evan before they were married, family notes and cards from over 50 years ago were among her things. She also sponsored children in 3rd world countries through a program called World Vision.  She helped many children so that they could get an education from grade school through high school. She did this for over 40 years and never told a soul.

She was a homemaker but she did work outside the home at times.  Her favorite job was working with the elderly in nursing homes. When not working, Cheryl enjoyed cooking for friends and family and spending time with her fellow church members. But her greatest joy was her great-granddaughter, Alexis. They spent many hours together enjoying fun activities, such as having slime making contests, making chocolate chip cookie dough, or snuggling in the recliner watching their favorite shows.

Survivors include her siblings, Karen Hartman, Larry Lyne, Janice Gordon, and Dennis Lyne.  One daughter Cherie Ryan (Brad) of Newton, Ks.  Three grandchildren, Sarah Ryan (Jeremy Albin) of Bentley, Ks, Jacob Ryan (Jodi) of Newton, Ks., and Brandon Bergman of Rhode Island. And four Great grandchildren Alexis Albin, John Ryan, Michael Bergman, and William Bergman.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and June, her husband, Evan Bergman, her daughter, Tamberli Bergman, her son, Cary Bergman and her sister, Betty Allen.
