Charlene Hill

November 30, 1933 — March 14, 2021

 

Charlene M. (Casey) Hill died peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 14, 2021, in Newton, KS. 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 22, 2021 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M., both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

The family will greet friends at the church that morning between 10:00 A.M. and 10:30 A.M

Charlene was born in Ness City, KS, on November 30, 1933, and was the daughter of Frank and Bertha Casey, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Gayle (Casey) Baumgartner of Gig Harbor, WA and brother, Donnie and his wife, Pauline of Newton, KS.

She married her husband, Henry Hill, Jr., who preceded her in death, along with her daughter, Christine M. (Hill) McNeill. 

She leaves behind four children, Teresa (Hill) Sauerwein, of Lawrence, KS, Cindy (Hill) Shimerda and husband, Tom, of Omaha, NE, Ron Hill, of Santa Maria, CA, and Brenda (Hill) Blaufuss and husband, Philip, also of Newton.  Charlene was blessed with many grandchildren -Tieyce (Saylor) Jonas, Tyler Sauerwein, Adam McNeill, Shannon (McNeill) Kreutzer, Mary (Shimerda) Craig, Sarah (Shimerda) Dea, Anna Shimerda, Catie Blaufuss, Carlie (Blaufuss) Simon, Sam Blaufuss, and Eli Blaufuss.  She so enjoyed watching her great grandchildren grow up, Zane, Navaeh, Gage, Truett, Gentry, Hadley, Dawson, Brooklyn, and Bernadette.  Her other great loves were her daily wine and chocolates.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Newton Public Library (where she loved to spend time), Caring Hands Humane Society of Newton (who cared for her cat, Pumpkin), and Interim Hospice of Wichita, KS (who cared for our mother at the end till she reached out for Heaven). Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
