Billy G. Nelson, 81, passed away on October 23, 2012 at Schowalter Villa in Hesston, Kansas.
He was born on February 12, 1931 in Turon, Kansas, the son of Hazel (Levens) and Orville Nelson.
On December 1,1957 he married Neva Ann Mull in Newton, Kansas. They made Newton their home.
Billy retired from Dillon’s after 20 years of service. Prior to that he also was employed by the COOP of North Newton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Wanda Gross and Barbara Meireis.
Survivors include Neva; 3 sons, Paul (Kimberly) Nelson, Newton, Joel (Cindy)Nelson, Overland Park, KS, James Nelson, Newton; one sister, Betty Jo Buckwalter, Turon, KS; 4 grandchildren, Tamaira (Jonathan) George, Whitney, Chelsea and Jared Nelson; great granddaughter, Penelope George; step great grandchild, Braeden Lybarger.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October, 28, 2012 from 1:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, October 29, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Columbus Avenue Church of Christ with Darrick Shepherd officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Jamaican Mission Fund-Marshalltown Church of Christ, Marshalltown, IA, in care of the funeral home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114
