Betty Janzen

Betty J. Janzen, 98, of Louisville, Kentucky, died Saturday (November 24, 2018) in Louisville, Ky.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday (November 30, 2018) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Interment will be in the Whitewater Cemetery in Whitewater, Ks.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 7:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M.

She was born on August 24, 1920 in Newton, Ks., the daughter of Hazel Elizabeth (Mellor) and Theodore Roth, Sr.

Betty married Lawrence Janzen on July 5, 1941. They lived in Whitewater, Kansas for several years until moving to Wichita in the early 1960’s, where she was a property manager of Builder, Inc. Betty also enjoyed “flipping houses”. Larry died November 15, 1984.

While living in Wichita she was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. Betty moved from Wichita to Louisville, Kentucky to be closer to her son four years ago.

Survivors include her son Bill Janzen and his wife Sharon; granddaughter Lee Mitchell; and great grandchildren Asher Mitchell and Reese Mitchell all of Louisville, Ky; along with her brother Theodore E. Roth of Whitewater, Ks.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers Bill Roth, Bob Roth, Darryl “Fritz” Roth, and Paul “Bud” Roth.

A memorial has been established with Hospice of Louisville. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
