Angela Theodora Garnica

November 9, 1946 — March 29, 2023

Angela Theodora Garnica, age 76, passed away March 29, 2023 at Via Christi  St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by her family. Angela was born November 9, 1946 in Newton, Kansas to Andrew and Conception (Hernandez) Terrones.

She grew up and attended school in Newton. On St. Patrick’s Day in 1983 she married the love of her life, Eugene Garnica, they shared 40 years together. Angela doted on Gene, caring for him during some health problems the last few years, and she was fiercely protective of him, ensuring that he got his proper rest and wasn’t disturbed by visitors or anyone who might make him sick. Angela was very good cook and she enjoyed sharing that with family and friends. Every week she would have one of the boys take her to the church so that she could light candles for anyone who was sick or just needed a special prayer.

She absolutely loved fried chicken so much so, that when she was younger her father nicknamed her “Chicken Hawk”. Gene knew that anytime they went to Wichita; he would have to stop at Popeye’s before going home. She enjoyed playing the lottery, specifically the scratch off tickets, and getting someone to take her to the casino to spend some time on the slot machines.

She was an animal lover and donated to Caring Hands Humane Society anytime she could, all of their pets were adopted from there. Their current dog Izzie, was adopted and on her first outing they stopped at a little park in Park City to let her out, and from that day on Angela called that Izzie’s Park.

Angela is survived by her husband, Gene; sons, Tony and Alexander; sister, Delores Luna; and grandson, Alexander, Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Andrew; sisters, Madeline Rodriguez and Rosie Garnica; and brother-in-law Jess Luna.
