Alfred O. Fields

Alfred O. Fields passed away, Friday, April 25th at his home.

He was born July 23, 1939 in Drexel, Missouri to William Benjamin and Hallie Jane (Green) Fields. They precede him in death.
He was raised in Newton, Kansas and attended Newton schools. As a young boy he played baseball and greatly enjoyed his dog, Teddy, and a pet raccoon, Jocko.

He married Cecilia Jaso in 1959 in Newton, Kansas. He moved to McGregor, Texas where he later married Helen Epperson. She passed away February of 1984.

He worked for Kinder Manufacturing in Newton, Kansas, transferring to McGregor, Texas as the plant manager for both the McGregor and Mt. Vernon plants. In addition to his duties as plant manager, he also designed furniture. Alfred was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted pheasant, quail and deer. He enjoyed hunting javillians as well. Alfred was a camper and fisherman. He also enjoyed woodworking and creating many things for his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Frank (Martha) Fields, Julie Janzen, Jody (Mike) Sutherland and Jeannine (John) Garnica all of Newton KS; grandchildren, Francisco Fields, Alfredo Fields, Ashley Janzen, Amanda Sutherland, Larissa Sutherland, Marissa Sutherland, Sage Sutherland, Tasha Garnica, Jenna Garnica, Derrick Garnica and Garrett Garnica; brothers; Roberts Fields, Benjamin Fields and Willis Ray Webster; sisters; Emma Northern, Goldie Detweiler, Roberta Simmons, Wanda Jennings and Hallie Lindsey. His great friend and compadre, Tony Gomez.

He was preceded in death by brothers, George Stults and Leo Fields; sisters; Edna Angle, Dorothy Matlock, Polly Whitemore and Armentia Holinde.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the funeral home.

Visitation will be on Tuesday 12 noon to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.
Graveside Services will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Wednesday, May 30, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.
